The prophets of the Old Testament foretold that God's Spirit would rest upon the Messiah to sustain his mission.  Their prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus the Messiah was conceived by the Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus on the occasion of his baptism by John.  Jesus' entire mission occurred in communion with the Spirit. Before he died, Jesus promised that the Spirit would be given to the Apostles and to the entire Church. After his death, he was raised by the Father in the power of the Spirit. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world.  . . .  We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL Confirmation

Registration for 2026-27 will open in the Fall
Our Confirmation program is now administered to teens as a parish family: the parishes of Mary, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Joseph.

Middle school is open to teens in the 7th or 8th grade and High School is open to those in 9th-12th grade during the 26/27 school year. Participants should be baptized and have received their First Holy Communion in the Catholic Church.

We recommend that participating youth be prepared to commit fully to the requirements of Confirmation preparation classes. These include:

  1. Attend Mass every Sunday and on Holy days of Obligation.

  2. Attend and participate fully in the preparation sessions. No more than 3 absences are allowed.

  3. Participate in 15 - Works of Mercy service hours as stipulated in the preparation guidelines.

  4. Attend the full-day Confirmation retreat.

Adult Confirmation

Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world.  . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults).

If you missed Confirmation as a youth, now is the time to be Confirmed. Confirmation stirs into life the gifts of the Spirit you were given at Baptism, giving you the grace to support and live out your vocation more fully.

Please contact Mary Williams at mwilliams@sjcissaquah.org for more information.

For questions on either program, please contact Pastoral Assistant for Family and Youth Formation, Maureen Fellez at (425) 392-5516 ext. 226 or mfellez@sjcissaquah.org

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
